brief-interviews-wit_79fe25.jpgOne of the stars of The Office just took the work of David Foster Wallace to Sundance. In an interview, John Krasinski outlined how Wallace’s work inspired his acting career.

At the LA Times, Krasinski explained the process of adapting, financing, and directing Wallace’s short story collection, Brief Interviews With Hideous Men. The film was one of sixteen films chosen out of more than one thousand submissions for Sundance’s dramatic film competition.

Here’s more: “For Krasinski, it was the source material that prompted him to make the move behind the camera. During his senior year at Brown University, the Boston-area native took part in a staged reading of acclaimed literary fiction writer David Foster Wallace’s bestselling ‘Brief Interviews With Hideous Men’ … It was a eureka moment for the future ‘Office’ boy; without encountering Wallace’s book, Krasinski says he never would have made the push to infiltrate the entertainment industry, let alone wind up as Jim Halpert, America’s favorite shaggy sitcom Everyman.”
