The folks at UnBeige, mediabistro.com’s design blog, follow up on the similarities between two dinosaur-themed book jackets, one of which is the highly iconic Jurassic Park, perhaps Chip Kidd‘s best-known work (even if you didn’t know it was Kidd who did it). It turns out that Howard Grossman, the designer credited with the cover for Tyrannosaur Canyon, had been very careful to not imitate Kidd’s design, and then the publisher started changing things… Later, a reader pointed out a similar cover predating Jurassic Park, though the imagery is not terribly conclusive.
