We called it back in October, when we praised Dwight Garner‘s Inside the List column for the New York Times Book Review for its blog-like qualities and suggested that Sam Tanenhaus put his bright young editor on a daily deadline. Today, the Times launches Paper Cuts, and Garner’s busy digging into the Review archives and unearthing gems like an ad from the 1970s for Daniel Menaker‘s first short story collection that features a personal endorsement from L.L. Day himself.
Now if we could just figure out how to finagle an invite to the NYTBR drinks date at Jimmy’s Corner, we could stand Dwight a drink and welcome him to the fold. One of us, Dwight, one of us!
