HarperCollins to Return to Agency eBook Pricing Model

HarperCollins is reportedly getting ready to return to a full agency for its eBook sales as early as next week, according to a report in Publishers Lunch.

“Multiple retailers report that Harper has informed them their selling terms,” reported the trade publication.

This news comes after a Business Insider report which revealed that Amazon and HarperCollins were having a dispute about their soon-to-expire contracts.

Under the agency pricing model, publishers are able to set the price of their eBooks. It is not clear in what way the publisher will apply the agency model, as they settled with the Department of Justice in 2012, agreeing that retailers could set their own prices on eBooks.
