Planned Parenthood Logo (GalleyCat)Children’s books writer Daniel Handler (a.k.a. Lemony Snicket) and artist Lisa Brown (his wife) have announced that they plan to donate $1 million to Planned Parenthood. Handler made this public declaration of support with a Twitter post.

Handler and Brown feel that they have “been very fortunate, and good fortune should be shared with noble causes.” According to Bustle, this couple has made donations to Planned Parenthood in the past.

The New York Times reports that as of late, several right wing politicians have been on a rampage against Planned Parenthood. Recently, the Republicans seat holders of the United States House of Representatives voted “to block all federal financing for the organization, which they accused of profiting from the sale of aborted fetuses for medical research. It was unclear, however, if the vote would mollify conservative lawmakers who have threatened to force a government shutdown over the abortion issue.” (via Entertainment Weekly)
