Borders Announces its Next Proprietary Book

With Nick Santora‘s debut novel SLIP AND FALL piled high on Borders and Waldenbooks tables round the country, it only makes sense for the chain to move on to its next in-house offering. That would be THE HAMMER, a collection of Sports Illustrated columns by the likes of George Plimpton, Ron Fimrite and Mike Capuzzo that chronicle baseball great Hank Aaron‘s entire career from his beginnings as a skinny teenage cross-handed slugger to his quest to hit home run number 755.

“With the success of SLIP AND FALL, the first novel published under our proprietary and exclusive publishing program, we are excited to now offer a second title, THE HAMMER under our State Street Press imprint,” said Bill Nasshan, senior vice president, trade books for Borders Group. “At the height of baseball season with Barry Bonds chasing Hank Aaron’s home run record, this is great timing for our a beautiful book focusing on Aaron’s legacy.”
