McKinney N.Y. Managing Director Splits for R/GA

By Patrick Coffee

George Nguyen, who joined McKinney’s New York office last July as its newest general manager, has left the agency after less than a year to join R/GA as group planning lead.

Prior to landing at McKinney, Nguyen spent several years in the TBWA organization, managing its office in Vietnam before moving to TBWA Toronto to serve as chief strategy officer.

Previous positions in the agency world include group planning director at StrawberryFrog, senior strategic planner at Lowe’s New York office, and similar roles at DDB and Arnold.

Nguyen officially left McKinney a few months ago, and his R/GA hire follows another big move within that agency’s planning/strategy department: Andrea Ring, a nearly 10-year veteran of the agency, departed earlier this month to accept a CSO position at Big Spaceship.

We hear that McKinney is currently searching for a GM to replace Nguyen in its New York office.
