mcgarrybowen New York Draws Up Spot for Crayola’s Easy Animation Studio

By Erik Oster

mcgarrybowen New York launched a new spot for Crayola’s Easy Animation Studio starring YouTube/Vine personality Zach King.

“A Hero Draws Near” opens with King drawing a superhero with Crayola crayons. He then takes a photo of his creation with a tablet. When he leaves the room a series of villains he’s drawn and discarded come to life, wrecking havoc. Luckily, his superhero is up to the task and puts them in their place. The ad is an imaginative illustration of how kids can bring their Crayola drawings to life with stop-motion animation using Crayola Easy Animation Studio.

“Zach’s brand, as a motivating film magician who is always experimenting with unbelievable special effects and visual stunts, just synced up so well with the benefits and features of our Easy Animation Studio product,” Crayola marketing director of content Karen Waters told Adweek. “Both Zach and the Easy Animation Studio showcase and inspire unexpected ways for kids of all ages to release their imaginations to design and create.”

“Finding influencers who have a true passion for the brand they’re working with is key,” added mcgarrybowen New York president and chief client officer Simon Pearce. “When we identified Zach King, one of today’s hottest creative influencers, as a possible partner for Crayola, we thought it was a perfect fit, as he is loved and followed by millions of people and shares the same passion for creativity and technology as Crayola.”
