Winston, N.C., anchor Kimberly Van Scoy announced on Friday that she’s been diagnosed with congestive heart disease.

The diagnosis came as a surprise to the WXII morning anchor. Van Scoy assured viewers though, during an announcement on Facebook, that she’s being taken care of by the best doctors.

“I want to say thank you so much for your kind email and messages,” Van Scoy said Friday. “They have really meant a lot to me,” she wrote.

Her morning team was also surprised by the announcement.

“Kim, I got to tell you … this all caught us by surprise too. As you know, we love you. We miss you and we are just praying that God covers you through all of this,” said Margaret Johnson, morning-noon anchor. “We know you are a fighter and all of us have pretty much talked to you. We want you to know that we love you and support you.”

For now, Van Scoy will be off air getting treatment and some much needed rest.

“I want to get well, so I am going to do what I have to,” Van Scoy said.
