WWL Hires Former Desk Assistant to Lead 10 p.m. Newscast

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

She started as a desk assistant nine years ago, left New Orleans to get experience and now Charisse Gibson is returning to WWL to take on her dream job as the station’s 10 p.m. anchor.

“After 9 years, I’m finally ready to return home. Not just back to my home town, but the first television station to ever hire me. But this time, I won’t return as a Desk Assistant. I return as the 10 pm Evening News Anchor at WWL-TV. The same slot held by the very people I grew up watching and admired. I am humbled, I am grateful and I’m ready to tell the stories of the New Orleans that I KNOW,” she said in her Facebook announcement.

Gibson comes from WXIX in Cincinnati where she was the morning breaking news anchor.
