Lauren Petty is joining WMAQ as a general assignment reporter at the end of this month, the Chicago NBC O&O announced today.
Petty joins WMAQ from WVIT, the NBC O&O in Hartford, where she has worked for the last six years. She currently anchors the weekend evening newscasts and reports during the week.
In a statement announcing her hire, station vice president Frank Whittaker called Petty a “great addition to our team” and said the station is “thrilled to introduce her to our viewers.” Petty, a Chicago native, will begin at WMAQ on January 30.
