WVIT Won’t Air Sunday Night With Megyn Kelly

WVIT, the NBC station that serves the Newtown, CT area won’t be airing Megyn Kelly‘s controversial interview with talk show host Alex Jones.

TVNewser reports the NBC-owned station sent a memo to staffers this afternoon explaining: “Whenever there is news regarding the Sandy Hook tragedy, we know that the pain resurfaces for our community, our viewers and for you, our colleagues at WVIT. Over the last few days, we have listened intently to Sandy Hook parents, our viewers and importantly, to you. We have considered the deep emotions from the wounds of that day that have yet to heal. Because those wounds are understandably still so raw, we have decided not to air this week’s episode of Sunday Night With Megyn Kelly.”

Kelly’s interview with Jones had come under intense scrutiny in addition to advertiser losses. Jones, a firebrand radio talk show host, has supported the theory that the Sandy Hook school shooting was a hoax.

“It’s going to be very difficult for us to keep an eye on the more controversial figures of our time if we never talk to them,” Kelly said Tuesday, defending the interview.
