Matt Piacente has been named news director for Fox-owned WFLD and WPWR in Chicago.
Piacente was the news director at NBC-owned Hartford station WVIT. This is a return to Chicago for Piacente who spent 15 years at WMAQ in Chicago as executive producer. Before that, he was a producer at Chicago stations CLTV News, WGN and WLS.
“Working for 20 years in Chicago news has given me so many great experiences, foremost teaching me that the viewer always comes first,” said Piacente. “It’s an honor to return to my hometown with the opportunity to work for an organization which understands this and whose mission is to connect with viewers across the Chicago area.”
