Mike Manhatton, an anchor at Savannah CBS affiliate WTOC, has died from complications of cancer.
“Mike has been with us here at WTOC nearly 33 years — a phenomenal reporter, and gifted anchorman. WTOC and the community have truly lost an amazing man, and a wonderful friend,” the station said in a statement on its website.
According to the Savannah Morning News, Manhatton remained at WTOC until February 28. “He was the consummate news guy,” WTOC’s Sonny Dixon told the Morning News. “He never lost the feel for the urgency of breaking news and was always a stickler to get it right the first time.”
