Baltimore anchor Karen Campbell is leaving WBAL for a job in Indianapolis as a reporter-anchor for WTHR.

Campbell spent five years in Maryland in various roles in television and radio including her time at the NBC affiliate.

She is filing the position left open by reporter-anchor David MacAnally, who retired from the Indy station this summer.

“Karen is a real solid reporter and she is great on the [anchor] desk too. That’s really important to us. For us, it’s all about versatility,” said WTHR news director Jeff Rosetti.

Campbell will serve as a reporter and a fill-in anchor on the noon newscast as well on weekends. She begins Aug. 3.
