By Kevin Eck

Nashville NBC affiliate WSMV is adding an hour-long 3 p.m. weekday newscast starting Monday, September 5.

The station will also expand its midday news by 30 minutes, from 11 to 1 p.m. and will move lifestyle show Today In Nashville to 2 p.m. and make it an hour long.

The new WSMV 4 News at 3 will feature anchor Tracy Kornet and meteorologist Dan Thomas.

“With the addition of these expanded news time periods, WSMV will now offer more news than any other Nashville station. We are committed to serving the Nashville and Middle Tennessee area with the most local content,” said vice president and general manager Jasmine Hardin.

“Nashville is a great city and deserves a greater choice in news than what’s available to them now,” said news director Dan Fabrizio. “This newscast expansion is just the beginning. We’ll be launching live streaming news and a range of on-demand content in the very future, all local. WSMV 4 is committed to producing more live, local news, weather and sports content that’s relevant to our community—and convenient.”
