WROC’s Scott Hetsko Has Heart Transplant

By Mark Joyella

Scott Hetsko, chief meteorologist at Rochester CBS affiliate WROC has had a successful heart transplant. Hetsko has been off the air for several months “tending to a life-threatening health and medical issue,” the station reports, saying the anchor’s “heart was failing.”

In June, Hetsko posted a video to Facebook, telling viewers his heart condition had grown more serious. “Unfortunately things have gotten to a point where we need to take more dramatic measures to keep me going down the road here.”

The transplant was done last month, and Hetsko has recovered well enough to be discharged from the hospital. It’s not known exactly when he might return to work:

There’s still a lot of work ahead in his treatment and recovery, but he’s thrilled to be reunited at home, with his wife, the lovely Jen – and his three beautiful children – Logan, Jack and Julia. You’ve sent in thousands of well-wishes, and they’ve meant more to Scott and his family than you know.
