Larry Herbster, former GM of WROC, has died.
The Rochester CBS affiliate writes that when Nexstar bought the station in 1999, Herbster was the first GM it brought in.

“Larry came in here in a time of transition for Channel 8, and it really signified a renewed commitment to the news product on his watch, and from that point forward,” said WROC Sports Director John Kucko. “He was the first General Manager here under Nexstar, and really bridging the gap between the old and the new, and set us on the path that we’re on now.”
Herbster began his career in media in 1967, and retired from WBRE in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania in 2004. He passed away on Monday. He was 71 years old.
