WPXI reporter Mike Holden is leaving the Pittsburgh NBC affiliate to work in Cleveland as a reporter at WEWS.
His last day at WPXI will be June 24.
“I’m heading home to #CLEVELAND! (Sorry, guys. I know, I’m a traitor.),” Holden wrote on Facebook. “I accepted a reporter gig at WEWS News 5—the incredible, legacy ABC Scripps station in my hometown. It’s where I interned more than a decade ago. It’s always been my dream/career goal to get back so my parents could watch me do my thing. I can’t believe it’s finally happening.”
Holden said that while his entire family is in Cleveland, it’s a bitter sweet time to go home because his father has “aggressive stage 5 kidney disease and failing health” and is need of a kidney.
“Through the ups and downs—you guys have always been there for me,” he added. “Thank you for taking me in and making me one of your own. #Pittsburgh will always be my second home.”
