A WPIX news crew was attacked while on the scene of a fatal fire Wednesday night.
Reporter Cristian Benavides and photographer Ken Evseroff were parked at a McDonald’s near the scene in Queens.
According to a post on Twitter, Benavides says they were wrapping at story for the 10 p.m. show when a man approached him and Evesroff. Here’s what happened next:
“I pull out my phone just I case, he opens the door of our news van, knocks phone out of my hand. When I go to pick up the phone the man gets in his vehicle and drives towards us. Luckily we are ok,” he said.
Benavides filed a harassment report. Cops are now looking for the suspect.
