New York FOX owned station WNYW has announced a revamped 6:00 p.m. newscast.
WNYW told the New York Daily News the new 6:00 p.m. looks to put a “more positive spin” on the news with enterprise reporting and lifestyle stories.
“I’ve been doing the news for 35 years in New York, and I feel a very personal relationship to the viewers,” WNYW anchor Ernie Anastos told the News. “So this is a chance to be more personal, more direct and more conversational.”
Anastos will solo anchor the 6PM. Meteorologist Audrey Puente will also report along with entertainment reporters Simone Boyce and Christal Young.
“Our goal is to redefine local news in New York City,” said WNYW news director Byron Harmon. “I feel that news is more than fires, crimes and car crashes[NY Daily News]
