John Stofflet has retired from local news after more than four decades.
Stofflet anchored his final show for Madison, Wisconsin NBC affiliate WMTV on Tuesday night.
To celebrate his retirement, he received a proclamation from Dane County executive Joe Parisi making Tuesday John Stofflet Day. The proclamation recognizes Stofflet for his career and his service to the community, including with the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin, the Badger Childhood Cancer Network and the Madison Parks Foundation.
He also received a proclamation from Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers’ Office, wishing him a rewarding retirement and thanking him for his commitment to the community.
Before coming back to Madison to work as the evening co-anchor in 2005, he worked for KING in Seattle and also at the National Geographic Channel as a freelance correspondent. Stofflet started his career at WKOW in Madison in June of 1983.
