WLS Weekend Anchor Stacey Baca to Leave Station After 20 Years

By Kevin Eck

Chicago weekend anchor Stacey Baca said she’s leaving ABC owned station WLS.

Baca has anchored the morning newscast for 20 years. She told viewers she was leaving the station to spend more time with her husband by saying, “More life, less work.”

“You, all of you out there, have made this such a difficult choice. I love coming here every weekend. I love my job,” Baca told viewers. “But I also love family time. My priorities are shifting. Time is the most valuable asset I have right now.”

Before joining the station in 2002, Baca worked for the Denver Post, WTKR in Norfolk, Va., and KNSD in San Diego.

Her last day will be June 26.
