Rob Elgas has been promoted to 4 p.m. anchor for Chicago ABC-owned station WLS.

Elgas will join Linda Yu, meteorologist Cheryl Scott and sports anchor Jim Rose on Thursday, May 26. He’ll also report at 10 p.m.

“Since joining our news team Rob has done an outstanding job for us,” said vp of News Jennifer Graves. “He’s a Chicago area native who relishes covering news in and around Chicago and has forged a real connection with viewers here. His on-air warmth, experience and enthusiasm for his work are the same qualities that have made him such an integral part of our newsroom this past year.”

He came over to WLS from NBC-owned WMAQ in July 2015 as a fill-in anchor and reporter.
