Harrisburg, Pa. ABC affiliate WHTM has announced that Joe Lewin is retiring as vp and gm after 56 years in the broadcasting business.

Lewin started his career in the production department at WLWT in Cincinnati. During his 22 years there, he worked his way through sales to station manager. He went to WRIC in Richmond, Va. as gm in 1984 and was named gm of WMAR in Baltimore in 1993. He went to Russia three years later to start a TV station there and came back in 1999 to work a gm at WHTM.

“I have had the great good fortune of spending my career in a business I have loved and totally enjoyed,” said Lewin. “I have worked for some of broadcasting’s best companies…none better than Media General. I will always be grateful for the many opportunities presented to me. The past 56 years have been my pleasure.”
