WGN morning anchors Robin Baumgarten and Larry Potash couldn’t contain their frustration after missing a live shot of a bridge implosion. WGN‘s morning show had been waiting patiently for a local bridge to collapse when they briefly cut away from the live shot to kill some time. In the seconds that they were away, authorities pulled the trigger on the explosives.

“Are you kidding me?” Baumgarten exclaimed when the live shot revealed that the bridge had just collapsed. “Larry, this is a metaphor for our show.”

Baumgarten then started crumpling up paper and throwing it around the studio. Potash sat motionless with an exasperated look on his face while Baumgarten flailed her arms. The pair played it up to comic effect and the studio team had some fun with the situation, playing Beck’s “Loser” with the lyrics “I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me.” (Video here via Mediaite)
