WFTV Names Studio After Retired Anchor

By Kevin Eck

Bob Opsahl may have retired from WFTV two weeks ago, but the station made sure he never really leaves.

The Orlando ABC affiliate named its news studio after the longtime anchor who retired May 25.

“The honor was revealed at a May 27 retirement dinner for Opsahl at the station. U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla.,” writes Orlando Sentinel media writer Hal Boedeker. “And Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs attended and praised Opsahl’s class and longevity. Opsahl’s parents, who are in their 90s, were there as well.”
