Hartford is mourning the sudden loss of WFSB’s main anchor Denise D’Ascenzo, who died over the weekend.

D’Ascenzo had been on the air for more than 30 years. Connecticut’s governor called her a “news legend” when giving her a tribute.

Her death was sudden, her family said in a statement:

“Denise D’Ascenzo passed away today. It was sudden and unexpected. The grief we are all feeling is immeasurable. We are devastated for her husband and daughter who were her whole life.”

It’s believed she suffered a massive heart attack in her sleep.

Tributes from across the region are coming in. CBS This Morning anchor Gayle King worked with D’Ascenzo at WFSB and talked about their time together this morning. You can watch it below.
