John Soapes has been named president and general manager of Orlando’s WESH-WKCF.

Soapes comes to the Hearst-owned NBC and CW affiliate from Hearst’s WYFF in Greenville, S.C. Before working at WYFF, he was the general sales manager at WKCF from 2001 until 2011.

“Throughout John’s career his leadership and presence have resulted in a strong connection with the communities served by our stations,” said Jordan Wertlieb, Hearst Television President. “His extensive familiarity with Central Florida combined with his success leading the award-winning WYFF for the past five years make him uniquely qualified to lead WESH and WKCF’s local news, programming and community service into the future.”
