Trey Schmaltz has been named assistant director of news for Baton Rouge, La., ABC affiliate WBRZ.
“This is another step toward building WBRZ as the primary place for news and information on both TV, Internet and social media,” said WBRZ News Director, Lee Polowczuk. “WBRZ News 2 has big plans for 2016 and I’m confident we have the right person to help lead our team.”
Schmaltz has been the station’s ep since 2011. Before that, the Ponchatoula native held producing positions at WBRZ and at KNOE in Monroe and Lafayette.
