WBBM Names New President and General Manager

Veteran news manager Derek Dalton will move into WBBM’s vacant president and general manager spot.

Peter Dunn, president of CBS television stations, made the announcement. Dalton comes from WHEC, the Hubbard Broadcasting NBC affiliate in Rochester, New York where he spent the last seven years.

“Derek comes to us with a great reputation and track record of success everywhere he has worked,” said Dunn. “We look forward to having him lead the evolution of WBBM as it continues to deliver premium content via all of our broadcast and digital platforms.”

Dalton has spent than 20 years in local news management. He began his career at WGN, the Tribune owned station in Chicago before moving to KWGN-TV in Denver as vice president and general manager. He also spent four years at KGTV-KZSC in San Diego.

“It’s a thrill for me and my family to return to Chicago and have the opportunity to contribute to the future success of WBBM,” Dalton said. “I am excited to make this move and work with my new colleagues at the station, our clients and community partners.”
