Virgil Dominic Named Interim ND at WKYC

Virgil Dominic has been named interim news director at WKYC, the NBC-affiliate in Cleveland.

For the past six years, Dominic has worked at the station as a talent mentor and consultant. In a statement, WKYC general manager Brooke Spectorsky said Dominic’s new role is “a continuation of that vision.”

“I can’t think of anyone better positioned to help guide our staff through the coverage challenges of the Summer Olympics and fall’s Prime Time launch than Virgil,” Spectorsky said. “He began his career at WKYC as a main anchor and set the tone for the region’s rich history of journalistic excellence.”

Dominic replaces Rita Andolsen, who stepped down as the station’s news director earlier this year to move into a newly-created position as director of advocacy and community initiatives. WKYC said the search is underway for a permanent news director.
