Veteran Anchor Elevated to Lead Digital Video at Hartford CBS Affiliate

By Kevin Eck

News anchor Kara Sundlun has been named chief digital anchor at Hartford, Conn. CBS affiliate WFSB.

“Life is hectic and we know getting your news when you want it, and where you want it is important,” Sundlun shared on social media. “I will now be bringing you breaking news, the best of Better Connecticut and a brand new #KarasCures wellness show on the Channel Three App for @appletv @amazonfiretv and more.”

In her new role, Sundlun will host live streams and events and will anchor both original and repurpose programming across the station’s digital video channels, which is growing in importance as the station looks to reach its audiences wherever they are watching.

“OTT is an increasingly important space for us and for our viewers,” WFSB news director Keith Connors told TVSpy. “We believe it’s critical to have a well-known and trusted anchor leading our digital video efforts.”

Sundlun will continue to anchor the news at noon and co-host the station’s daily lifestyle show Better Connecticut.

“As I celebrate my 21st anniversary here, I have so much gratitude for all of you who tune in everyday and my team of co-workers who keep me laughing and learning!” Sundlun wrote. “Thank you for inviting me into your homes for all these years, now I’m excited that you will be able to take me with you EVERYWHERE!”
