Veteran Anchor Betsy Singer Is Returning to Minnesota TV

By Andrew Gauthier

After two years away from TV, Betsy Singer is making a comeback in southern Minnesota. She will not be returning to KTTC, though, where she held the anchor chair for six years. Instead she will be the new anchor of the 5pm newscast for KTTC’s local rival, KAAL.

“Let the naysayers say what they will, I prayed big-time about this. This is solely about my family,” she told the Rochester Post-Bulletin. “I was happy out of TV. I was good with that.” Singer left KTTC in 2007 to take a job working as an educator at Faith Christian School in Rochester and creating video stories of faith, until the project ran out of funding in 2008.

The Post-Bulletin reports on further changes at KAAL around Singer’s arrival…
ABC 6 viewers will see Singer handling the 5 p.m. news desk, now being vacated by Ericka Miller, who has been moved to anchoring the 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts with Brandon McElwain. The flexibility of her position will allow Singer to work on special projects. Full article…
