KGTV has an update on this morning’s story that reporter Marie Coronel and photographer Mike Gold were seriously hurt after being hit by a falling tree while they were preparing for a live shot.

The San Diego ABC affiliate reports Coronel “was seriously injured and will require surgery.” Gold suffered a compound leg fracture and is undergoing surgery as of this writing. Coronel and Gold were in Mira Mesa doing live reports about the recent storm for this morning’s newscast.

“At this time, our main concern is the health and well-being of our crew in the hospital,” said Joel Davis, station manager at KGTV. “We appreciate the concern of the community and wanted to share what we know about the accident.”
