Tucson Anchor Says Goodbye, New Weekend Anchor Named

In two days, KVOA‘s main anchor, Kristi Tedesco will say goodbye to viewers in Tucson after 13 years on the anchor desk.

Tedesco, who anchors NBC affiliate’s 5, 6 and 11pm news, made the announcement on her Facebook page saying “in two weeks I will start a new adventure.” She says this will give her more time to spend with her children.

“She has made a monumental difference in this community and the lives of Southern Arizona children are better because of her dedication and hard work. We will greatly miss her. Please join me in wishing Kristi well in her future endeavors,” said news director Catie Batbie.

Tedesco’s segment, Kristi’s Kids, is well known in the market for helping Arizona families get supplies they need for children.

TVSpy told you last week, weekend anchor, Angelique Lizarde, will move to weeknights as her replacement and yesterday the station announced Lizarde’s replacement.

In a release out yesterday, KVOA announced reporter, Alyx Dote, will be promoted to the weekend desk and will co-anchor the 5:30 and 10pm newscasts with Nick Vincent.

“Alyx has a great rapport with viewers when delivering a news story,” said Batbie.. “She’s a natural for the anchor chair and we expect viewers will embrace her.”

She start her new role August 12.

Before joining KOVA, Dote reported news for KRCR, the ABC affiliate in Chico, CA. She graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism.
