Tom Lyden Leaving KMSP to Take Care of Ailing Mother

By Kevin Eck

Tom Lyden is leaving Fox owned Minneapolis station KMSP this month.

Lyden is leaving to serve as his 86-year-old mother’s primary caretaker near Mariposa, Calif. The station said this is something he has been doing while simultaneously contributing to the Fox 9 Investigators since 2022.

Lyden started working at KMSP in September 1993. His reports are credited with getting new laws enacting, putting criminals behind bars, leading to a politician’s resignation and a governor’s open hostility.

KMSP plans to say goodbye to Lyden on the 9 p.m. newscast on Thursday, September 21.
