Former MSNBC and CNN anchor Thomas Roberts is out at WGCL, the CBS affiliate in Atlanta. He had only been at the Meredith owned station for 14 months.
“Thomas is a great journalist, and he has made a wide variety of contributions to CBS46 and the Atlanta market. We thank him for his relentless pursuit of the truth and wish him the best of luck in the future,” said Steve Doerr, news director.
In a press release, the station said Roberts is pursuing other opportunities in national news and politics.
“I enjoyed CBS46 and will miss my colleagues tremendously. I love Atlanta but my heart is in covering national news and politics. I look forward to pursuing opportunities in these fields and thank CBS46 for everything,” said Roberts.
In an interview with AJC.com, Roberts said sometimes things just aren’t the right fit.
He joined the station after he couldn’t find another national gig. His last day at the station was August 16.
