Carol Jenkins — a WNBC anchor for more than 23 years — is interviewed today by our sister site, FishbowlNY. Jenkins, who helmed the 6 p.m. broadcast at the NBC owned-and-operated station in New York City, has spent her post-television career as an advocate for women and African-Americans in the TV business.
Jenkins, who says the industry is moving in “the right direction” with regard to diversity, was critical of local news today, admitting she prefers to get her news from the internet. “After I’ve watched a heavy dose of local news, with a certain kind of story, I feel ill,” she said.
