Telemundo Reporter Gives Station Social Media Boost in Houston

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

KTRK remained the social media leader in Houston while there was a shift in the second and third place slots from November 20 to December 20.

KRIV, the Fox owned station in Houston moved from third to second place and KTMD, the Telemundo affiliate, moved to second thanks to a station individual who is relatively new to the market.

KTRK had a 27.6 Share, KRIV had a 24.9 Share, KHOU, the Tegna owned CBS affiliate had an 18.1 Share and KPRC, the Grahman owned NBC affiliate, had a 13.9 Share.

KTMD’s boost came from Eduardo Rodríguez who joined KTMD from WLTV, the Univision flagship in Miami, earlier this year. He has more than 1.25 million followers on social media if you don’t count his personal account.

Overall in the market, total engagement was down in the last 30 days compared to the 30 days prior, with five of the seven stations Share Rocket tracks in the market seeing declines (and four of those stations saw declines of -21% or more). The one station to show significant gains was KTMD, which benefitted from nearly 650,000 engagements from Rodríguez’s social media accounts.

KTRK led on Facebook and Twitter. KTMD led on Instagram.

Of the top 10 individuals in the market, three work for KRIV, two work for KPRC, two work for KXLN (Univision O&O), one works for KTRK, one works for KHOU, and one works for KTMD.
