Dyer starts January 2 and replaces Mark Burdett, who’s worked at the station since February 2012.

“We are thrilled to welcome Richard back to Washington, DC,” said Lynn Beall, evp and CEO of TEGNA Media. “Richard brings extensive industry and management experience to WUSA which will be valuable to the employees, community and businesses they serve.”

He comes from WLWT in Cincinnati, Ohio. Before that, he was GM of KETV in Omaha, Neb. and was corporate vice president of television sales within TEGNA Media.
