Tegna Buys WATN, Brings Back Former Nexstar Manager as Station President

WATN-WLMT has a new president and general manager.

The ABC-CW affiliates in Memphis, Tenn. will see a change in management starting today. Rick Rogala will move to the Tegna station from Little Rock, Ark.

Rogala isn’t coming to Memphis from a local TV station. He comes from Bespoke Health Media, where he was president and CEO. The company provided marketing content to the healthcare industry.

Prior to that, he served as a svp with Nexstar, where he oversaw 12 stations.

“Throughout his distinguished career, Rick has shown a talent for leading teams, serving local audiences, and partnering with local businesses,” said Lynn Beall, executive vice president and COO for media operations at Tegna. “His in-depth knowledge of the needs of the Memphis market, combined with a collaborative decision-making approach that has always brought out the best in his colleagues make him an ideal fit to lead our team at WATN/WLMT.”

Tegan recently acquired WATM from Nexstar. At that time, Rogala worked closely with the station as part of his management role.
