#TBT Good Advice for Journalists Who, Maybe, Exaggerate

By Kevin Eck

In today’s Throwback Thursday, we take you back to 2012, and our sit down with FOX News anchor Shepard Smith who told us how he got his first big break.

Smith told Adweek TV about how his reporting on a small part of a larger story for what is now Orlando’s WKMG, got both him and his station noticed.

Which segued nicely to his almost prophetic advice, given near the end of the video, that resonates today. “Don’t ever think you have to have the biggest story in the world,” said Smith. “You don’t have to parachute into Lebanon for a war. A hurricane doesn’t have to destroy your market. You get noticed every single day, by the work that you do day in and day out.”
