Stations Block Negative Ads From Kentucky Democratic Party

Four West Virginia television stations have apparently pulled an ad by the Kentucky Democratic Party that claims Republican state Senate candidate Jack Ditty, a dermatologist, does not treat poor people.

Meanwhile, a new independent political committee formed by leaders in Kentucky’s horse industry has a TV and radio ad running in Ditty’s race against Democrat Robin Webb that claims Ditty “did not pay unemployment taxes” and was slapped with a state lien on his business.

Ditty, who faces Webb in a special election next Tuesday to fill a vacancy in the state’s 18th Senate District, said the ads are misleading.

Beth Stiles, general sales manager for WSAZ, the NBC affiliate in Huntington, said Wednesday that her station stopped airing an ad by the Kentucky Democratic Party on the advice of its attorney. More…
