Four WLNE employees have been fired and three more have been suspended after they reportedly viewed “highly confidential personnel records” from the Providence ABC affiliate after a data breach, reports GoLocalProv.com.

The files, containing personnel data including social security and bank account and credit card numbers were allegedly accessed Friday, April 8.

The staff were told about the breach in a letter from vp and GM Christopher Tzianabos.

“Maj. Joseph F. Philbin of the Rhode Island State Police said Tzianabos contacted the state police April 13 seeking guidance on how to determine if there had been “a breach” and, if so, who was responsible,” reports the Providence Journal. “Philbin said station management planned to conduct an internal investigation and then get back to state police.”
