KHQ anchor Stephanie Vigil says she is leaving the Spokane, Washington NBC affiliate to explore life beyond the newsroom.
“I just feel like the time is right,” Vigil told the Spokane Spokesman-Review. “It’s a good time for me to go, jump on a new path and enjoy my life.”
Vigil started working at KHQ in 1997. Her last day at the station will be June 8.
“When I hired Stephanie, I knew she would be an over achiever and elevate KHQ to the station we are today,” said KHQ president Patricia McRae. “I have never worked with an individual that has so much charisma, talent, and entrepreneurial ambitions. Her heart is big, and she has opened it up to so many. That smile and laugh will forever be permeated in the TV station”.
Vigil plans to start a clothing company catering to her new favorite sport, pickleball.
“I was trying to find a clothing line out there, get some pickleball gear, and I couldn’t find anything that caught my eye,” said Vigil.
She got her Master’s Degree in Communications and Leadership at Gonzaga University in 2013 and went on to become an adjunct professor at the University, teaching a reputation and leadership class. She also published a book called Reputation by Design.
“I’m leaving because I don’t think that we’re one-dimensional,” Vigil said. “I think people have many different passions, and they are multidimensional. And that’s me.”
