Spectrum News to Launch Networks in Kansas City and Maine

Spectrum News will launch two news networks, a linear channel in Kansas City, Mo., and a streaming channel in Maine.

Spectrum News in Kansas City is a rebranded news and sports network, formerly Spectrum Sports Kansas City, serving the greater Kansas City area on channel 1 and will continue to feature coverage of the Kansas City Chiefs, live post-game coverage, and local high school football and basketball games. Spectrum News in Maine is a streaming news network created to accompany the existing digital-only platform. Both news networks are available on the Spectrum News App on mobile and connected TV on Roku and Apple devices.

“The launch is part of an ongoing effort to reach more communities across the country with Spectrum News’ objective news and content and to advance our mission of helping viewers become more informed and engaged citizens,” said Alison Hellman, senior vice president and general manager of Spectrum News.

Spectrum News in Maine and Kansas City integrate Spectrum News+, which curates nationally relevant local stories from across the country and local reporting from on-the-ground reporters. Initially, the launch of the new streaming network will feature national and local news 24 hours a day on weekdays, and on the weekends, it will broadcast original programming from Spectrum News+.

Spectrum said that among its customers, Spectrum News consistently outperforms the major cable and broadcast news networks, averaging more than 1.9 million viewing households each month across its linear and digital platforms that span across the country in California, Florida, Hawaii, Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas and Wisconsin.
