South Carolina Meteorologist Chokes Up After Seeing Sunshine

By Kevin Eck

After several days of covering the flooding in the Columbia, S.C. area, WIS meteorologist Tim Miller had trouble holding back his emotions after seeing sunshine in the station’s live weather shot shortly before 8 a.m. this morning.

“Well, how about that,” Miller said. “Boy, I tell you…I don’t know what to say. Sunshine! That’s amazing.”

During his forecast, Miller stepped off screen occasionally in an attempt to collect himself.

At least seven people have drowned in South Carolina after heavy rains caused widespread flooding over the weekend.

“I just lost it,” Miller said on the Columbia, S.C. NBC affiliate’s website. “It was because all that’s going on. I know the people who are suffering. I know people who live on roads that are now gone. I see these people in the grocery store. I care about this community.”
