Women Dominate Recent News Hires in Buffalo

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

In Buffalo, women are everywhere on local television.

That’s according to a Buffalo News story. The paper is reporting that of the last 23 on-air hires across all three networks in the market, 22 of them have been women.

The paper says journalism professors attribute it to supply and demand. More women are getting journalism degrees so there are more female applicants in the hiring pool.

All three hiring managers in the market told the paper they hire the best person for the job, whether it be male or female.

You can read more about the recent hires here (the Buffalo News also created the image used in this post). The one male hire in the market was WKBW‘s newest sports reporter, Adam Unger.
