Sinclair Signs Deal for Location-Based Advertising

Sinclair Broadcast Group has signed an exclusive multi-year deal with Marketron for its location based advertising solution for the mobile platforms at its 172 local television stations.

Marketron shows consumers mobile ads based on their location and past behavior. BIA Kelsey says location-based mobile ads account for one-third of overall U.S. mobile ad revenues.

“Marketron’s location-based ad platform provides the accuracy, scale, functionality, and support required for our stations to deliver mobile campaigns locally,” said Rob Weisbord, Sinclair’s COO of Digital Solutions. “Our advertisers will be able to timely share their message with the appropriate consumer in a geo-targeted manner, based on the places they visit everyday.”
